  • Changes of concentration and temperature of chemical constituents in reactors

In the chemical reaction, the interaction between chemical constituents and the temperature is taken into account in the following equations

where T is temperature, C is the concentration ,α and β are reaction coefficients G is the activation energy of the reaction.

The reaction takes place in a cylinder of radius of 1 with uniform distribution in the axial direction. Therefore, the calculation is undertaken within a quarter of the round cross section, in which the two boundary radii are considered as symmetrical boundaries. The other boundary conditions include: the temperature on the down-right corner of the arc (1/16 of circle) is 1.2 and the temperature on the left part of the arc is 1.0. The concentration on the whole arc is 0.0. The given coefficients include:  α= 0.3, β= 0.2, G = 16. The changes of the temperature and the concentration of the constituent are separately shown in the following diagrams.

Result:

             Temperature distribution during the reaction

Concentration distribution of the constituent during the reaction
